O ex-velocista Ben Johnson, pego no exame antidoping nos Jogos Olímpicos de Seul-1988 após conquistar o ouro nos 100m, com 9s79, afirma ter sido sabotado pelo empresário de Carl Lewis, Andre Jackson. O canadense diz em sua biografia recém-lançada que todos os velocistas se drogavam, mas apenas ele foi pego. No livro, Ben, que não nega o uso de substâncias ilícitas, afirma ainda que a estratégia na época era interromper o uso antes dos exames antidoping.
Em entrevista exibida no Esporte Espetacular, da Rede Globo, no último domingo, o ex-atleta diz que estava na companhia de Jackson na sala do exame quando o empresário de Carl Lewis, seu rival nas pistas, lhe ofereceu cerveja para ajudar a urinar. Segundo Johnson, enquanto dava as bebidas, Jackson colocava na garrafa comprimidos com estanozolol, substância proibida que aumenta a força e potência dos músculos.
“Eu achei que não era nada. Tomei umas quatro ou cinco garrafas em um período de cerca de sete horas”, afirmou Johnson ao programa. Com o resultado positivo no doping, Carl Lewis, segundo colocado na prova, herdou a medalha de ouro do adversário. O ex-atleta norte-americano e seu empresário não quiseram comentar o caso.
