O favorito para vencer a 35ª edição da Prova de Reis de São Caetano, em São Paulo, era o queniano Joseph Kachapin Aperumoi. O atleta, porém, não apareceu na disputa e quem venceu os 10 km foi Reginaldo Oliveira Campos, com o tempo de 30min17s.
“O primeiro lugar superou as minhas expectativas. Queria ver como estava, depois de me recuperar de contusão. Senti um pouco nas subidas e descidas, mas consegui superar tudo e vencer”, declarou o campeão, que participou pela primeira vez da Prova de Reis.
David Benedito Macedo foi segundo, com 30min31s, e Silvano Lima Pinto terceiro, com 30min40s. Já no feminino, a vitória foi da tanzaniana Jackline Juma Sakilu, com a marca de 34min33s. Sua compatriota Nelly Jepkurui chegou em seguida, com 34min50s e Vanda Carneiro Chagas, com 35min32s, completou o pódio.
