A União Ciclística International (UCI) anunciou seu programa antidoping para 2011. Entre as mudanças está o aumento do testes de controle em ciclistas cujos perfis possam indicar o uso de substâncias ilegais. Esse monitoramento mais específico foi possível pelo passaporte biológico.
No comunicado oficial, a UCI esclarece que esses atletas serão os alvos principais em comparação com os atletas que apresentam perfil completamente regular, o que corresponde “a maioria do pelotão”, diz a organização.
A UCI também decidiu investir em uma campanha de prevenção, em colaboração com as federações e outras organizações ciclísticas, com foco nos jovens ciclistas para não serem “recrutados” para as práticas ilegais.
O grande escandâlo de doping no Ciclismo no momento envolve o campeão deste ano do Tour de France, o espanhol Alberto Contador, cujo processo ainda está em julgamento, enquanto o atleta segue suspenso preventivamente.
