A paulista Laura Mira levou o Brasil ao pódio na segunda etapa do XTERRA Pan American Tour 2016, disputada domingo (27) em San Juan, na Argentina. A triatleta da equipe Isapa/Oggi foi a terceira colocada da elite feminina, que teve como vencedora a francesa Myriam Guillot–Boisset, e a mexicana Fabiola Corona em segundo.
A prova, em formato de triathlon off-road, foi disputada em 1,5 km de natação, 30 km de mountain bike e 9,5 km de trail running. Laura começou bem a disputa, fazendo o segundo melhor tempo da natação, atrás apenas da argentina Erika Simon, favorita da casa para vencer a competição, mas seguida de perto por Fabiola Corona e Myriam Guillot–Boisset. Já no mountain bike a brasileira perdeu muito tempo e acabou se distanciando bastante da francesa e da mexicana. Na corrida, ambas aumentaram ainda mais a vantagem sobre Laura, que no entanto acabou superando Erika Simon no tempo total e conquistando a terceira colocação.
A próxima etapa do XTERRA Pan American Tour 2016 acontece no Brasil, em Ilha Bela (SP), no dia 7 de maio. Será a terceira de um total de 10 etapas, que se encerram com o XTERRA Pan American Championship, a ser disputado no dia 17 de setembro em Utah, nos EUA (confira aqui o calendário completo do XTERRA Pan American Tour 2016)
