O governo francês anunciou a presença do presidente Nicolas Sarkozy nesta quinta-feira na caravana do Tour de France 2010. Ele acompanhará a prova desde Pau até o topo do Col du Tourmalet, onde a etapa termina.
Sarkozy é um grande apaixonado pelo ciclismo e já acompanhou a prova de perto duas vezes desde que assumiu o principal cargo político da França. Ele assistou a etapa com final em Briançon, de 2007, vencida por Mauricio Soler, e também a vitória de Frank Schleck em 2009, com final em Le Grand-Bornand, quando o luxemburguês bateu Alberto Contador no sprint após atacar por toda a montanha.
