A jovem americana Arielle Avina impressionou muita gente nos 5 km da Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego, na Califórnia. Com apenas 10 anos de idade, Avina cruzou a linha de chegada em 19min20s e venceu a prova feminina.
Com Desiree Linden, campeã da Maratona de Boston deste ano, para apoiar e inspirar os corredores, Avina surpreendeu todos e se tornou a mulher mais jovem a ganhar um Rock ‘n’ Roll – 5K.
Nos 5 km da prova masculina, Baxter Arguinchona foi o vencedor. O americano concluiu a prova em 16min59s.
Aproximadamente 27 mil corredores foram registrados para competir durante os dois dias de evento. Além dos 5 km masculino e feminino, o evento também contou com provas de 21 e 42 km. Depois da corrida, a organização ofereceu ao público um show com música ao vivo.
