Com o objetivo de examinar o efeito do treino físico aeróbico sobre a sensibilidade à dor nas pessoas, um grupo de pesquisadores do American College of Sports Medicine, nos Estados Unidos, fez testes para esclarecer alguns estudos antigos, que mostravam que os incômodos eram os mesmos entre pessoas que praticavam esporte e as que não tinham esse hábito.

Eles avaliaram 24 voluntários durantes seis semanas: colocaram 12 deles para praticar exercícios três vezes por semana e a outra metade ficou sem atividades.
Com o fim do teste, os participantes que treinaram, tiveram um aumento de 20% na tolerância às dores. Eles perceberam que sentiam as mesmas sensações dolorosas de antes, mas que poderiam lidar por mais tempo com elas. Diferente dos outros, que continuaram suportando pelo mesmo tempo.
Segundo os responsáveis pelo estudo, isso acontece, pois o treinamento físico pode facilitar o desenvolvimento da atividade cerebral, o que faz com que a tolerância desses sinais e as sensações de dor sejam maiores.
