Depois de 15 séries de exercícios, divididos em cinco dias de disputa, a edição 2016 do CrossFit Games coroou, neste domingo, 24 de julho, os dois atletas mais bem preparados fisicamente do mundo. São eles Katrin Davidsdottir, da Islândia, e Mathew Fraser, dos Estados Unidos.
Katrin ficou pela segunda vez com o título – ela também havia vencido em 2015. Mas a disputa foi acirradíssima: ela confirmou o título apenas depois do 15° WOD, “Redemption”, e terminou apenas 11 pontos à frente da australiana Tia-Clair Toomey.
Fraser, por sua vez, conquistou o tão sonhado título sem maiores problemas. Depois de dois vice-campeonatos, perdidos nos últimos WODs, o americano agora venceu com bastante antecipação. Alcançou quase 1.100 pontos nas 15 séries.
Entre os times, o título ficou com o Crossfit Mayhem Freedom, do Tennessee, com 1.224 pontos.
