O tenista paulista Thomaz Bellucci conquistou o título do ATP de Santiago, nesta segunda-feira, ao derrotar o argentino Juan Monaco, por 6/2 0/6 6/4, em 2h05min de partida. Este é o segundo ATP de sua carreira – em agosto de 2009, o brasileiro havia sido campeão do ATP de Gstaad.
Com o resultado, Bellucci alcançou a 28ª posição no ranking mundial, a melhor na sua trajetória profissional, e tornou-se o quarto melhor brasileiro da história, atrás apenas de Gustavo Kuerten (Guga), Thomaz Koch e Fernando Meligeni. Guga havia sido o último brasileiro a ganhar o troféu do torneio no Chile, em 2000.
Bellucci volta ao Brasil e vai para a Bahia disputar o Brasil Open 2010, na Costa do Sauípe.
